CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
GENTLE YOGA THERAPY CLASS
A ‘
Yoga Therapy ’ class is
appropriate for people who can comfortably
stand, sit and lie on the
floor. It is taught by a qualified Yoga Therapist who teaches variations of postures allowing people to work at their own pace and ability. It is never too late to start and contrary
to popular myth, you do not have
to
be fit or flexible to begin a course. AYoga Therapy class takes into account
that everyone is unique and has a
different range of flexibility. Each session
combines physical postures, breathing practices
and relaxation techniques.
Once you have learned these techniques, you
will be able to use them to care
for your own health. Pregnant women can be accomodated in the class.
WELL WOMAN YOGA
Well woman Yoga
is a gentle, safe and very effective
form
of Yoga for women of all ages, whether
new to Yoga or for those with years
of
practice. It incorporates a sound
understanding of the effects of Yoga
on woman’s
physiology, woman’s reproductive
health and on the endocrine system.
Simplicity of practice is emphasised
and the focus
of each class is on wellbeing, helping
women to improve their health and
maintain their wellbeing through
a regular Yoga
practice. Pregnant women can be accomodated in the class.
YOGA FOR PREGNANCY
More
and more women are doing Yoga
during their
pregnancy.
In general, Yoga is hugely beneficial
for pregnant women and babies.
However, not all poses shown in Yoga books
are suitable for pregnant women;
some may
be uncomfortable or even harmful
during pregnancy, which is why
attending a
class led by a specialist pregnancy
Yoga teacher
is advised. Many midwives recommend
Yoga as a way of keeping fit
and mobile during
pregnancy. The breathing techniques
that are taught can be used during
the pregnancy
itself and during labour to promote
feelings of confidence and control.
Yoga can boost
energy and keep the pregnant
body supple without straining. It can
also reduce
stress and anxiety, promote restful
sleep and can relieve common
minor ailments
during pregnancy. Clients are able to join from week 14 to 15 of pregnancy and can continue up until week 40.
